- A Real-Time DETR Approach to Bangladesh Road Object Detection for Autonomous Vehicles In the recent years, we have witnessed a paradigm shift in the field of Computer Vision, with the forthcoming of the transformer architecture. Detection Transformers has become a state of the art solution to object detection and is a potential candidate for Road Object Detection in Autonomous Vehicles. Despite the abundance of object detection schemes, real-time DETR models are shown to perform significantly better on inference times, with minimal loss of accuracy and performance. In our work, we used Real-Time DETR (RTDETR) object detection on the BadODD Road Object Detection dataset based in Bangladesh, and performed necessary experimentation and testing. Our results gave a mAP50 score of 0.41518 in the public 60% test set, and 0.28194 in the private 40% test set. 4 authors · Nov 22, 2024
- Baybayin Character Instance Detection The Philippine Government recently passed the "National Writing System Act," which promotes using Baybayin in Philippine texts. In support of this effort to promote the use of Baybayin, we present a computer vision system which can aid individuals who cannot easily read Baybayin script. In this paper, we survey the existing methods of identifying Baybayin scripts using computer vision and machine learning techniques and discuss their capabilities and limitations. Further, we propose a Baybayin Optical Character Instance Segmentation and Classification model using state-of-the-art Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) that detect Baybayin character instances in an image then outputs the Latin alphabet counterparts of each character instance in the image. Most existing systems are limited to character-level image classification and often misclassify or not natively support characters with diacritics. In addition, these existing models often have specific input requirements that limit it to classifying Baybayin text in a controlled setting, such as limitations in clarity and contrast, among others. To our knowledge, our proposed method is the first end-to-end character instance detection model for Baybayin, achieving a mAP50 score of 93.30%, mAP50-95 score of 80.50%, and F1-Score of 84.84%. 4 authors · Apr 19, 2023
- Team Enigma at ArgMining-EMNLP 2021: Leveraging Pre-trained Language Models for Key Point Matching We present the system description for our submission towards the Key Point Analysis Shared Task at ArgMining 2021. Track 1 of the shared task requires participants to develop methods to predict the match score between each pair of arguments and keypoints, provided they belong to the same topic under the same stance. We leveraged existing state of the art pre-trained language models along with incorporating additional data and features extracted from the inputs (topics, key points, and arguments) to improve performance. We were able to achieve mAP strict and mAP relaxed score of 0.872 and 0.966 respectively in the evaluation phase, securing 5th place on the leaderboard. In the post evaluation phase, we achieved a mAP strict and mAP relaxed score of 0.921 and 0.982 respectively. All the codes to generate reproducible results on our models are available on Github. 5 authors · Oct 24, 2021
